About Newtown Radio
Newtown Radio's recognizable identity is DIY and hyper-local to Bushwick, Brooklyn: founded in 2009 by Mark Brinda, Tariq Abdus-Sabur and Colin Ilgen in a former brewery, it built a reputation as a genuine neighborhood institution — hosts include a local game-store owner and the building's own superintendent (a former Hot97 DJ playing old-school hip-hop) — with an explicit "no gatekeeping and no follower thresholds" ethos.
