Independent radio from New York.
About 8Ball Radio
8ball Radio is the broadcasting arm of 8-Ball Community, a Brooklyn/East Village artist collective that began in 2012 out of a billiard hall in gentrifying East Williamsburg and grew into a zine library, public-access TV channel, and radio station. The strongest impression is of a DIY downtown-New York artist commune with a mic on, not a club-music radio in the RA sense — freeform, talk-and-music, unmistakably tied to a specific lineage of downtown NYC bohemia (zines, public access TV, artist mentorship programs). Village Voice compared its former SoHo space to "a superhero's hideout... some mythological lovechild of Jean-Michel Basquiat and Laurie Anderson."
