About Radio AlHara
Radio AlHara ("radio of the neighborhood") is unlike almost anything else in this field: an online station launched in March 2020 during the first Covid lockdown by architect brothers Elias and Yousef Anastas, sound artist Ibrahim Owais, graphic designer Saeed Abu-Jaber, artist/architect Yazan Khalili and Moe Choucair — a group that, tellingly, has reportedly never once all been in the same room. A knowledgeable listener will register a station where the format itself (no archive, no algorithm, discussions and cooking shows sitting beside experimental sound and Palestinian folk music) is treated as inseparable from its politics; as one founder put it, the structure of communal, borderless broadcasting is itself the political act, not any particular playlist choice.
