About Oroko Radio
Oroko Radio, co-founded in 2022 by Kikelomo, Nico Adomako, Naëmi Ada and Truseye out of friendships formed in a semi-abandoned Accra mall art studio, positioned itself from launch as a platform for Ghanaian, African and diasporic voices working outside the sounds most associated with the continent (Afrobeats, amapiano, highlife). It launched with more than 70 residents across 15 countries and four continents, quickly drawing attention from Resident Advisor, DJ Mag, Mixmag and Pan African Music. As of April 2026, the station has announced an "indefinite broadcast hiatus," citing unsustainable resourcing — a major status change any listener or curator should register alongside its editorial identity.
