About Kanal K
Kanal K reads less as a "scene" station than as a civic institution: a non-commercial, service-mandated regional broadcaster for the Aargau/Solothurn area with roots in 1980s left-wing, alternative and trade-union organizing (it began life in 1987 as IG Regionalradio, gaining formal federal recognition as a "complementary radio" in 1997). Its strongest impression is of a full-spectrum community broadcaster — part radio school, part cultural-diversity mandate, part local counter-voice to commercial Aargau radio — rather than a music-first curatorial project.
