About 20ft Radio

20ft Radio is a genuinely distinctive project: an independent broadcaster operating from a literal shipping container in the grounds of a former ribbon-weaving factory/brewery in Kyiv's Podil district, founded in December 2016 by music enthusiasts including co-founder Vitaliy Nemchenko. Since 2022 it has also become a documented node of wartime cultural resilience, continuing to broadcast and organize charity/solidarity events (e.g., "Air Sessions" with Amsterdam's yi.collective, raising funds for Ukraine). The strongest impression is of a station whose identity is inseparable from both its physical curiosity (the container) and its role as a hub sustaining Ukraine's underground electronic scene through crisis.
